Latest Exhibition Info

Hannah Rendell
Hannah Rendell is a painter/sculptor who has recently moved from London to Beer-Sheva. Her latest series of works are beginning to explore the contrast of cosmopolitan city life and desert landscape. Rendell's paintings are intended to be intrusive and demanding and require the observer to spend time gathering hectic thoughts before finding reassurance or comfort. The experience of the materials’ reactions to one another with as little perfecting as possible, allows the true qualities of the process to be seen. Rough, rushed and unfinished surfaces meet carefully decorated and orchestrated details.

Break On

batik workshop 1

Break On is a totally independent new group of artists which aims at exhibiting different themed exhibitions all over Israel.

The Group is made up of four artists:

Hannah Rendell - sculptor and painter,
Diana Brody - painter,
Miriam Alster - photographer,
Jasmin Gershony-Geyer - painter

batik workshop 2

The main idea of Break On is to give artists the chance to arrange their own exhibitions from choosing a space to finding sponsors.

Each exhibition organized by the group will invite different artists to join them in exhibiting their work and organizing the show.

Break On exhibitions are a challenge as no show begins with external contacts or funding which means creativity in finding original spaces and sponsorship!

Our hope is that Break On will provide talented artists with more opportunities to show their work.

Thank you for supporting us!

Desert Life Exhibition
batik workshop 1

New artist group Break On welcomes you to their first exhibition together, titled Desert Life.

Desert Life is unique due to the fact it has been set up and organized solely by the artist themselves, independent of any gallery or committee. This has allowed the artists the freedom to control their own show, and pushed them to find alternative and original solutions to financial restrictions. All these factors add to the shows charm and energy.

The artists have transformed a raw space in this historical building, into an exciting and innovative show. The exhibition consists of five rooms each bursting with individuality of both the artists and the space.

Break On is proud to open their doors to "Desert life" which takes a conceptual look at mans survival and existence in the desert – for good and for bad. This is an emotive theme for the group as some of the group has lived their whole lives in the desert and some have moved there from big cities around the world. Although there are only five permanent members of Break On, other artists have been invited to participate in Desert Life.

Desert Life is proof that there could be more opportunities in Israel for artists to get their work seen and to be in control of their own shows. Break On plans to welcome talented new artists to join them in future exhibitions – as long as they are prepared to put in the hard work!
